The Saffola Journey The Saffola Journey, a 7th-grade book by John Giffard, was inspired by some early events in the development of the language. The book contains some of Giffard’s extensive analyses of the culture of Saffoyane, including his essays on the relationship between Catholicism and the grammarian, Erich Graf von Behwickl, and his original analysis on Anglo-French poetry, particularly its depiction of the famous “conquest of the heart,” for which Graf’s biographer Heinrich Malin helped him write several years later. This collection was first illustrated with photographs by Giffard, as one can see here. The book also contains a collage of photos by Michael Thompson, published by Exba Books on March 17, 2004. The collage was originally included with a second edition of Giffard’s works, and also with some of Giffard’s other works.
